The best bets in the Football League tonight

There are 24 matches taking place in total in the Championship, League One and League Two this evening and we've picked out ten bets worth considering at varying prices. Here's where your money should be heading...

Home bankers
Being superstitious sods, it's not a term we like using but here goes anyway...Norwich's slip up against Southampton leaves Colchester with the best home record in League One, having won 13 of their 16 at the Community Stadium. Tonight's visitors Brentford aren't in great form so back the U's at [1.8]. In League Two, high-flying Bury's recent home form has been faultless, so they should beat iffy travellers Morecambe at [1.81].

Underestimated hosts
Here we look at some home teams who tempt at prices greater than evens. Gillingham are one, having lost only three games at Priestfield all season. Visitors Leyton Orient were on a good run but are winless in three so give the Gills some support at [2.16]. Aldershot's recent form isn't great but they've lost just once on home soil and look good value at [2.26] to see off Dagenham and Redbridge, who have been beaten in seven of their last nine.

Triumphant travellers
Ipswich are worth a punt at [2.76] against Scunthorpe. It's a fourth straight away game for the Tractor Boys but they've won two of the previous three. Many will snap up the [1.96] for Southampton to win at Wycombe but we fancy Huddersfield more at [2.3] to outclass resurgent Tranmere and maintain their unbeaten run.

Stalemate seekers
Leicester's play-off push threatens to be derailed by their tendency to draw and we envisage another away to Doncaster at [3.35]. Bristol Rovers failed to capitalise on beating Charlton at the weekend, coming away from Gillingham empty-handed, so should be held at Exeter ([3.4]), while a Grimsby spoil-sharer is always worth backing given they have drawn 13 of their last 17, and another against Macclesfield is [3.4].

Pick of the long shots
The popular choice here will be for Oldham to kick Leeds while they're down with a win at Elland Road ([8.0]). Our selection though is for unlucky Darlington, who are bottom of League Two and lost having led 2-0 at home after 79 minutes against Chesterfield on Saturday, to finally get the rub of the green and stun Notts County, who are winless in four. The Quakers are [5.0].
