Bolton are still good value to go down
The long-awaited shunting of Gary Megson and arrival of popular Owen Coyle was supposed to have an instant impact on Bolton's fortunes but they've still got a long way to go before securing safety.
The Trotters have picked up just four points from their first six games under God/Judas/Moses, having gone unbeaten in Megson's last four in charge.
It's hardly a terrible tally given that they've faced Arsenal (twice), Liverpool and Manchester City in that run, although we expected more of a bounce. After all, Ginger Mourinho claimed victory over Manchester United in his first month as boss.
While it would be harsh to judge Coyle on those six outings, especially as they were embarrassed in none of them and Mark Clattenburg had a major say in their failure to beat Fulham at home, it will be the next half-dozen that define their season.
All six are against relegation rivals, with trips to Wigan and Blackburn followed by a home game against Wolves, then visits to West Ham and Sunderland ahead of the Latics' day out at the Reebok.
With Bolton currently on 22 points, ten points may be required with a tough run-in to follow, in which only home games with Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Birmingham offer obvious opportunities to add to their tally.
Eight could perhaps be enough given the number of teams stuck down there but anything less would leave them in a perilous position. Even Hull, fortuitous survivors last season, got to 35.
They usually find a way to survive but will they do so again? Let us know how many points you expect them to collect from their next six and whether you think they are worth backing at [4.0] to plummet...
